A handy healing relaxation technique: 1. Sit comfortably with an upright back, relax your body and close your eyes. Alternatively, you can lie down on a bed provided that you do not fall asleep halfway through. 2. Begin by bringing your attention to your breathing. Breathe in and out slowly without straining your lungs. Do this for a few rounds to settle your mind and to prepare yourself for the exercise that follows. Tip: Throughout this exercise, don’t rush your breathing or force yourself to inhale deeply. Just breathe slowly and naturally by allowing your breaths to come and go by themselves. If your breaths are quick and short initially, no matter. You will slow down and begin to breathe deeper as you progress along. 3. Now imagine that you are surrounded by a glowing orb of pure blue light. Feel the tranquility that descends upon you as you bathe in the pure light of serenity and bliss. 4. As you breathe in, visualize you are breathing in the radiant light effortlessly. Hold your breath briefly for a second or two to let the light fills your head, neck and shoulders completely. 5. As you breathe out, imagine all your physical, emotional and mental tensions leave your body as black smoke. Imagine this thick smoke emitting from your pores and dissolving completely in the pure light around you. 6. Continue for another four in and out-breaths. Take your time to draw in the pure light into this part of your body, pausing for a second or two and then breathing out your concerns in the form of black smoke. 7. Now focus your attention on your torso, including your hands and arms. Feel the light of serenity flowing in through your nose, filling the center of your chest, and then radiating to your hands, arms and torso, filling this region completely with potent healing energy. 8. As before, hold your breath briefly to allow the energy to suffuse every organ, tissue and cell. Let it draw out your tensions and remove them as black smoke. As the smoke leaves your body, visualize your physical, emotion or mental wounds healing and closing up by the pure light. 9. Visualize your torso, hands and arms are now rejuvenated with a vitalizing glow of radiance. Do this for another four deep and slow breaths.Now direct your awareness to your lower body, including your hips, genitals, legs and feet. As you inhale, vividly imagine this blue healing light flowing down to your navel and permeating this entire region of your body. Pause briefly to allow the muscles and issues to be oxygenated and cleansed. 10. As you exhale, allow the healing energy to carry away your tensions from this part of the body. Sense your body aglow with a deep sense of relaxation, peace and vitality. Repeat this for another four in and out-breaths. 11. Lastly, take a deep breath and let the pure light fills your entire body completely, from head to toe. Allow every atom of your being to become saturated with the healing blue light. Deeply sense that your whole being is now pure and clear like a blue shining crystal. 12. Slowly open your eyes and take your time to get up. You may also want to do some simple stretching.
