But that’s not the whole picture and for some our food addictions are not the easiest place to start, but important none the less as many modern diseases are linked to our Diet. Cleansing Oatmeal and Almond Facial Scrub Recipe

Ingredients:

skincare

1/2 cup (125 ml) oatmeal

1/4 cup (50ml) of oat bran

3 tablespoons (45 ml) almonds

1/2 cup (125 ml) white clay or for deeper clean green clay

2 tablespoons (30 ml) poppy seeds

2 tablespoons (30 ml) dried herbs, rose petals are my favorite

To Make:

-Grind the oatmeal and oat bran in a grinder leaving some grit

- Grind the almonds in a similar fashion and strain, leaving a bit of grit for exfoliation of the skin.

- Take a large bowl.

- Combine with all other ingredients in a large bowl, using a wire whisk to mix it well.

-Package in jars, I use spice jars for convenience and individual use.

To Use:

1.Combine 1 tablespoon (15 ml) grains with 1 tablespoon (15 ml) water,

2. Mix into a paste.

3. Apply to face by rubbing gently and in a circular motion. Especially treat the T zone of the face - the forehead, nose, mouth, and chin.

4.Rinse with warm water and then with cold water to complete the treatment

This makes up to 16 individual treatments

Below are ways to reduce calorie intake without having to alter your diet significantly.

Replace fizzy drinks and fruit cordials with real fruit juices slowly watering them down.

Eat less lunch than usual. For example, make your own sandwich and limit the use of margarine/butter and full-fat mayonnaise (store-bought sandwiches often contain both).

Stop taking sugar in tea and coffee, change to other hot drinks like herbal teas or grain coffees

Have smaller portions and chew well.

- Avoid having a second helping at dinner, do something else instead eg. go for a walk.

- Cut out unhealthy treats such as confectionary, sugary biscuits and crisps between meals, make sure you have good meals and break this habit.

- Cut down on beer and alcohol.

All these things will influence your health in a positive way.

Once you've decided on what changes you're going to make, write them down. For example:

Week 1

-Movement- one 30 minute walk every lunch hour, find a yoga(or whatever motivates you to move and looks like fun) class to attend.

-Alcohol: none in the week, two small glasses of wine on Friday, Saturday, Sunday(If you find this one difficult you may really need to examine where your life is at).

-Food: choose healthy snacks that I enjoy (or for those with dreadful habits think about healthy snacks you could learn to enjoy), have one vegetarian dinner this week, choose white meat like Fish once this week , eat no fast food choose to prepare fresh meals instead.

Once you start your plan, weigh yourself once a week before breakfast. Keep a record of this weight and see if a pattern develops, track your progress, have people you can contact to support your changes and reward yourself for your achievements.
